Most skin experts believe that an increase in the male hormone, testosterone, is the main cause. It creates an excess of sebum — an oily/waxy substance produced by the sebaceous glands to lubricate the skin. Too much sebum causes a build-up of oil and dead skin cells in hair follicle pores. Bacteria make their way to the blockage, and the growth in bacteria causes acne.
Many facets of modern life are also thought to exacerbate it, including junk food, the excessive consumption of sugar, hormone imbalances and stress. Interestingly, there’s also a growing school of thought that acne is genetic — a theory which certainly strikes a chord with me.

To prevent acne problem you have to apply some home treatments like,
- Do not wash face with soap and water; wash it in the morning and night with lukewarm salty water. Soap is a drying agent and may worsen the acne, whereas lukewarm salty water may help remove oils without drying the skin.
- Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day can greatly help in healing of the scars of the acne. Aloe Vera juice can be found at most health stores.
- Cucumber is one of the easiest and refreshing treatments used for the treatment of acne and to refresh up the skin. It makes our skin feel looking young. Blend the cucumber into a paste and apply it on the affected area. Leave it for 30 to 45 minutes and then wash it off.
