    Is it legal to warm up IV Packs in the Microwave for a surgery patient.

    Is it covered by Joint Commission, OSHA, and CMS?

    It might get too hot or burst; or the plastic would melt. Or it would comprimise the meds in the pack.; or when you put it in the patient's vein, it would be too hot. Just get it out of the freezer or fridge way ahead of time. When I was in the hosp, the put an IV of something in me that was freezing cold; and made my hand and arm hurt.
