    What do you think this was about? Written around 500 years before Jesus

    This is just one of many Prophesies written many years before they happened. This is my proof of the Bible being true.......... He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
    and like a root out of dry ground.
    He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
    3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
    Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

    4 Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
    yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
    5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
    6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
    and the LORD has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

    7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
    he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
    8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
    For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
    9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
    though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.

    10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    and though the LORD makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
    he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
    11 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
    by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.

    its written about someone i know,its written about someone i love. its written about someone thats loves us all. its written about someone i want to know more and more of . surely their could be no possible way that many prophices could be true;if it wasn't any other than but christ the risen savior
    God will not be mocked.
    My question was about the propesy over 500 years before Christ. The detail was like it was written by someone who watched it all happen. Inspired by God

    Maybe it was written after the death of another "son of God". There are the claims that the story of Jesus is a plagiarism of a more ancient story of another proclaimed son of God. Perhaps what you have here is a recanting of that person and not a prophecy of Jesus at all. This could actually be proof of the claims that your bible, your faith is based on a plagiarized story. This tale is written in the past tense, not the future. Why write in the past tense for something 500 years in the future?

    Colleen... Its not only that claim 500 years before. There were many other about the comming of a Savior

    Rubbish, I agree with Colleen. I have also read the same thing as she did.

    People always lived in hope and so they made up a whole lot of stories.

    you say rubbich . I say fact. Your opinium. My opiniun.

    GOD told Isaiah  he   writes  down what he is told! I believe the tender shoot refers to King David .JESUS was born a poor man somebody you would never notice.JESUS taught from OT to teach the ordinary people the truth not as the TORAH scholar's or pharisee's were teaching them.He went about the region doing good healing people driving out Demon's and raising the dead. the SANHEDRIN out of anger and their jealousy start  plotting his murder as  foretold. The JEWS did not kill JESUS or roman's JESUS said I have the power to put down my life and to take it back up he volunteered to be born when his FATHER asked. JESUS was the only one that was able to  achieve this him he loved his FATHER so much when His Father asked Him to due this He did for he loved Him the human race enough he came here to be born to become the Messiah for the Jews and the Gentiles JESUS was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the illegal late night trials taken to Pilate Antipas Herod where he mocked him the Jews or the Romans didn't kill JESUS for He said I have the power to lay it down or to pick it up once more the Mel Gibbon's movie the passion of the CHRIST explains it all so please come JESUS.

    Suliz,

    Jesus preached on love, hate, the OT, heaven, hell, the future and so much more.

    To say that the OT is made up stories is to call Jesus a liar for he quoted the OT over and over, even said that it was written about Him.

    God Bless!
    I do not accept the strange idea that the murder of a person should set another person free. That's like kill the witness so no one will bare witness against you...aka scapegoating. Make another guilty so you may go free. And this is a practiced religion?! My dad was a Baptist preacher and convinced himself that the logic and illogic of that book was true. I do not believe that book is completely true or false. It is true in some places and untrue in other places. There is a lot more in this world worth study and to see how it has helped or harmed people. Belief and denial are both veils to your eyes until both are given up...then your eyes open.
    You know once you really believe, no one or thing can change your mind. That's why I really consider that the ability to believe is a gift from God.

    Some people are so blinded to God's existence, while you talk to a Christian and wonder,"how (can't) people believe, it's so obvious." So you have that predestination question, I just think truth can be right in front of someone and if it's not meant to be they will be blind and deaf to it.

    Of coarse none of us know, maybe that person will believe someday, later in their lives? But I often wonder why God choose me.?.
    I did reat it and was very clear. The reading I meant to put on was For this Easter time................ He grew up before him like a tender shoot,

    Like I said it was a bit part...aka...a play, a drama, a dogmatic indulgence, a thing to do. And yes I have similar faith in Star Wars, Rumplestilskin and the Wizard of OZ. I know Jesus as Michael of Nebadon aka...our System Sovereign and many other Celestial Beings. Nostradomus ate too much blight bread. He O.D.ed on what we may call LSD today.
    robertgrist

    A first recorded space case.
    Like I said it was a bit. Written 500 years before? It was a good bit. It could be worked out today and is played like a yo-yo. All of the same elements played out as true life drama in millions of lives everywhere.....justifying everything wrong with the world with hoards of benefactors calling for blood...your blood...aka-money.
    FriendofGod

    I don't think you have seriously considered the text and how it remarkably is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. It is simply incredible! The detials are so precise, unlike so called prophets like Nostradomus who speaks in vague imagery.

    Friend of God. There are those who's eyes are closed. God will not be mocked. You answered well my brother
    Hi Robert,

    When you decree the bible as some truth and some false you just made the entire bible worthless for it then becomes man's judgment as to what is truth. Jesus said that His word is truth and Jesus claimed that the entire bible is the words of God. Before you dismiss your father's convictions you should take the time to read the gospels for yourself and see why he was so convinced.

    God Bless!

    Which bible? If the NT, how could he claim a book was true if it was put together after he died? Did his voice float down from heaven again?
    FriendofGod

    Hi Colleen,

    Jesus said, Jhn 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

    Jesus foretold that His disciples would indeed speak the words of God.

    God bless!
    Why do people fuss so much about whether the bible is "true". Of course it isn't. It was written long before so many proven scientific facts were known. The Old Testament can be disregarded on those grounds. The important thing has nothing to do with Adam & Eve... God creating the world in 7 days... or any other strange, to us, ideas. It is the simple fact that Christ was crucified for saying he was the Son of God... don't ask me to begin to explain the trinity or angels playing harps... or eternal damnation either. He preached LOVE & asked for nothing in return, but Love. What more is there to need to know?
    friendindeed

    This was not an answer to my question. The part of the Bible was written 500 years before Jesus went to the cross. It describes word for word what happened.
    suliz

    It describes what the bible recorded later as having happened. Before you decide I'm a heretic I'm not. I'm a confirmed, practising Christain.
    Could anyone predict what will happen in 500 years, What was written here came true to the exact word. Fantastic

    What if the author of this tale was actually writing about a past event and not a future one? It's been said the story of Jesus is a plagiarism of a more ancient story of another "son of God". This tale is written in the past tense, not the future. Why write in the past tense for something 500 years in the future?
    There is fairly strong evidence that religious belief is related to an individual's genes. Those carrying the Vmat2 gene are more likely to be believers.
    Robert,

    I like how you said "strange idea". It is strange indeed. God becoming a man to die for the sins of His children. Could man come up with such a story???
    robertgrist

    I'm sure his intention was for the purpose that he said, that his death be the LAST sacrifice. The culture at the time called for sacrifices to get things done and appease the gods. Blood sacrifice was everywhere and understandable seeking to end that crap he would do anything to get such a crazy-abusive idea stopped it was so urgently needed. So he did the cross bit, and the effects are here today. Humanity is busily sacrificing everything for the money god and that includes all life on the planet. To make sure we don't have more martyrdom we just kill the bad guys...otherwise we could not killed them or someone else done it and the beet goes on.
    FriendofGod

    But Jesus was a Jew and believed in God not gods. Jesus said that the OT spoke about Himself and the Messiah to come that would take away the sins of the world. Isaiah 53 was written 700 years before Jesus was born into this world and then fulfilled that scripture to the tee. Remarkable indeed!
    robertgrist

    I'm a Jew and we call upon all gods for the fun of it.
    FriendofGod

    Point made. Not all Jews believe in God. But when Jesus taught He taught from the OT which declares that there is only One God.
