Primary colours used in painting are a pinkish red called magenta, a blue called cyan and yellow.
With these 3 colours and white it is possible to mix most other colours needed when painting a picture. White is not a colour and is often used to tint colours, for example, mixing it with red to make a pale pink.

Hi Bulletman you sound like you know a lot about the colours used in printing but the colours for painting are some what different when mixed together. These colours are Red Yellow Blue and are called the three Primary Colours. that was what my question asked. Thanks for your answer

Although it is good that you tried to answer the question. It seems that you did not fully understand the question, because the 3 colours that you mention in your answer refer to colours used in printing, which are Magenta Cyan and Yellow. Not when painting. The three colours that are used in painting are Red Yellow Blue these are the three primary colours.
