Even my today's standards the Tiger is a monster of wartime engineering. but came too late and at a time when petrol available to the German army was scarce as it consumed about 3 gallons per mile. But as a machine of war, the allies had nothing to compete with it. Only way to take one out was attack in numbers, outwit the commander.
Also, they had a serious problems with treads, the tank was so heavy, nearly 60 tons, tread pins would break and broken teeth on drive sprocket. All crew members were trained on how to replace these parts in the field. Problem is that the problem presented itself in violent maneuver as in turning quickly while in battle. Thus leaving the tank and its crew vulnerable to attack. Where it did have the 88 canon, the Tiger 1 didn't have a mobile turret. if it wasn't pointed at the attacker, it was sure death for the crew and they were under strict orders that unless the tank in on fire, they must not exit.
