Why do so many people believe in heaven, and so few believe in hell? Paradise or the New Earth can be included under the question of heaven, just in case you want to be technical on the question.

Who is going to heaven?
John 3:13 - No one has ascended to heaven but he who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
John 7:34 - You will seek me and not find me,and where I am, you cannot come.
Acts 2:29 - Let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us today.
Acts 2:34 - For David did not ascend into the heavens.
The kingdom of God will be here on earth. I can show scriptures that help understand this mif you are interested.

Pam that's such a generic answer no offense intended, Ask the question how many people have had a lifetime of heaven here on Earth and see what suffering people have to go through here on this rock.
Hell is eternal and real and contains unimaginable horrors that will make some people's life seem like heaven in their memories of it. But I respect your viewpoint. What if you are wrong?
This life can really suck big devil c--k, but it's nothing compared to what hell and eternal suffering have in store for our souls..........

I always thought they kind of went hand in hand. If you believe in Heavean and Hell, how can you not have one without the other! If there is such places for all of eternity noone is certainly going to go straight to Heaven without earning your "pass go" merit points to get into the best place!

Sorry I did not answer the question fully.
Most people even church goers have never really been taught what the Bible really teaches.
So they are confused by every half baked idea of those who purport to be teachers.
Very very few people are good enough to go to heaven.
but then nobody is bad enough to suffer eternal torment in the mythical Dante's inferno.
The wicked just do not get a resurrection.

References to a fiery hell are purely symbolic.
But there is to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous, and the meek ones will inherit the earth.
This is Gods law and it is the only law that will prevail.

Because there is NO HELL! There is the abyss... which is non existence. Hades was the city dump were they thew criminals to rot and be scavenged by birds and other creatures. No burial or respect.

Yes, there is also outer darkness where Satan and his followers will be eventually thrown into. Could this be a black hole? The radiation and temperature is said to be incredible and in the center it is said that time comes to a stand still. Eternity may not contain time, at least as we know it here on Earth.

I think because it is difficult to reconcile a loving father or God with the concept of an eternal state of suffering; it is a depressing and bleak vision. Christianity is the only organized religion that believes in a permanent separation between God and his creation. Judaism and Islam both believe in hell as only a temporary punishment. Muslims believe that God is so compassionate that he eventually forgives sinners and lets them out of hell until it is eventually empty. Jewish people believe it is only a temporary place before the soul joins God in the light.
