Is it possible from a early beginner to play the alto sax in 12 months to be good enough to be in a jazz band?

I have been playing the clarinet for just over two years, I could read music before so had a bit of a start, I had played the piano before that. Don't think I am ready to play in a jazz band, maybe a little local band, something like that. To be a good jazz player you have to be able to improvise ie play without music etc. It really all depends on how much you practice, most people practice for half hour to an hour a day, professionals practice for several hours every day. So the more you play the better you will be. Most of all enjoy it.

Yes if it is a lousey jazz band but no if it is rather good
