what's it like to be deaf and in a treatment facility. Does the deaf feel they are receiving fair, equal, and comprehensive services with or without an interpreter?

Perhaps they can not hear and/or speak but they are not stupid. I think that the deaf can fend for themselves quite well! My first boss was a deaf/mute. I learned how to 'sign' although I probably am the worst at it.. I really liked the guy and he was very smart, he was my boss. I am sure that if he was in a treatment facility and he was not getting proper treatment he would have someone's butt on the floor.. :)

With an interpreter the deaf would be able to actively engage in all recovery sessions. The deaf would be able to participate fully by expressiong his / her thoughts and feelings.
