    Hydrogen is flammable, oxygen is needed to feed fire, why then does water not burn?

    It is already burnt, the hydrogen has burnt in the oxygen to make water. The molecule H2O means that the hydrogen and oxygen have combined - it's very different from a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen.
