A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place to perform an unusual and sometimes pointless act for a brief time and then disperse. The man in the commercial is part of the flash mob but he does not have a good phone service so he gets the message to late that the dance has been cancelled. This is why he is the only person dancing.

We haven't had that commercial here in Australia,but the way you have described it sounds pretty much right to me.

There is commercial on tv where this one guy rips off his coat and starts to dance while everyone else stares at him. He then stops dancing when he gets a message on his phone that says Flash Mob has been delayed. It has something to do with phone service
So in other words, you don't know why either? LOL I don't watch TV so I never see the commercials.
