Do you think your grown children should know how the will is to be divided. My husband was telling our daughter when I walked into the room.

Sure, why not? Get all the will issues taken care of now. A will is not a Christmas gift that needs to be tagged "do not open until after I die", you know.  ;)

In our case one child will be unhappy and the other semi-elated and one spouse is breathing fire.

Then leave it to your husband to explain. He's the one who said something. Remember, you raised your kids and took care of them when needed. You owe them nothing. Tell everyone to just be happy with what they get because you could leave everything to your favorite charities instead.

I think that may be a personal decision, however, I do think both spouses should consult one another before doing so. Personally, my Daddy told us 3 girls all his life that everything he has will be split 3 ways when he passes on, and so it was.

In your case, Tilly, I believe it actually made it better among you three girls.
