Give them 3 more week and they'll have Christmas items out and on display.

Buy a used one. a/c's can be recharged if needed just like a car a/c so you really can't go wrong buying a used one that's only a few years old. As long as it's blowing cold air, you're all set. $50 is good for a newer used a/c. Check your town paper.

It's been so hot that they are all sold out, not out of season. Never buy things like fans or air conditions when it gets hot, buy them ahead of time. Just like back to school stuff, Christmas stuff, all the good things are gone if you wait too long. In this case, the early bird gets the worm ....sort of.

They just don't want to admit they ran out because of the current conditions. Keep looking, I bet you'll find one somewhere like Sears but not WalMart or Home Depot or Lowes.
