    Does the US president have to be in the Senate before he can run for presidency?

    The US Constitution places these qualifications on a candidate for President: 


    Must be at least 35 years of age. Must be a natural born US Citizen.


    Actually, the Constitution does NOT place any restrictions on who may RUN for President.
