Can you grow a fruit tree from the seed that is in the fruit itself?

Like the pit in a cherry tree or the seeds in the core of an apple.

Yes you can. Don't plant the whole core of the apple, just the seeds. Sometimes it's better to open the pit and take out the seed inside the cherry pit.

    what about tomatoes?

Yes, Franklin - haven't you ever heard about "volunteers". Tomatoes that are started from the fruit that dropped off last year's plants, never got picked up and the seeds started to grow all by themselves the next year. I got a whole bunch of those every year in my garden.

Yes you can as ^dogs said, Hi 6 dogs< but the chances of it growing and fruiting are a bit doubtful.

I am not saying they will not fruit but as most trees are obtained by grafting the seed may not grow to a tree that fruits.

I had a broyher who had a commercial fruit orchard and he had one tree that had 3 varieties of peaches on it by grafting.
