    It is better if you buy seed potatoes, but any with "eyes" will work.  Prepare soil first and then cut potatoes with at least 2 eyes on each portion, and plant them into soil.  Cover, and hill them up by cultivating soil up to mound the plant, as they are tubers and need plenty of loose soil, and little competition with weeds or bugs.  When the green plant dies back, the roots should form potatoes.  You then lift, or dig them out, must store them and DO NOT BRUISE them, as one bad one will spoil the lot of all around them...

    Hey, that's catchy...

    I found if you want (new) potatoes when the plants bloom Get the taters out otherwise wait til the plant dies off! These are for regular potatoes! Sweet potatoes are a little different but --yummy Just keep an eye on those vines! The mice also enjoy a good Sweet Pot!
