Witnesses are strictly non political. We do not salute the flag of any nation or engage in that nations politics or nationalism. But importantly we do not interfere with anyone else's right to do so. During the 40's the American supreme court became very familiar with witnesses putting human rights issues before the court.

During WWII German witnesses refused to Hiel Hitler much the same as 1st century Christians refused to Heil Cesar. For refusing to join Hitlers armies and wage war on Britain and America they were put in concentration camps and treated worse than Jews, There are many verified documentaries of incredible bravery when facing execution. As a result many former atheistic communists became witnesses themselves and took their faith back to Siberia after the war.

MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS IN PRE=SCHOOL WITH THEM SO THE WHOLE CLASS COULDN'T HAVE PARTIES OR DO ANYTHING FOR HALLOWEEN, NO CRAFTS, ETC. I THINK THAT IS MAKING THE WHOLE CLASS SUFFER FOR A FEW STUDENTS. NOW THEY CAN'T CALL A CHRISTMAS CONCERT A "CHRISTMAS CONCERT' INSTEAD IT'S CALLED A WINTER CONCERT.

Yes, I think 5th and 6th grade I always wondered how come they couldn't join in. They never did the flag salute either. Back then we still had the pledge to the flag.

i did not go to school with any, but i lived a few houses away from a house where many lived while i grew up. I remember how polite they were but i also remember on several occasions how they disciplined some of the children, mostly teens. They were spanked with a tree branch in the yard. This occured many times. Is it normal to punish this way in that religion?

I don't think the Witness's are the ones that instituted the change. The schools laws and bye-laws probably fell victim to themselves.

It was not the Jehova witnesses that caused the change. It was the people like the aclu and the government that made laws to not offend any religions that caused it.

This is to Bonnie, I agree that a few should not be able to dictate to many on what they can or can't do in their own lives. Why should we not be able to have a Christmas Concert when we don't partake of the Jehovah's Witness' religion? It is not right that they change it for every one. I am pretty sure God wouldn't be happy with what "his children are doing." I think the world is changing way too much if we can't mention God, salute the American flag, or have prayer in school again. Our Founding Fathers put prayer in school to give thanks and pray to God, and saluting the flag is giving glory to out Country. We need to have a shift back like it used to be before the 60's and 70's came along and changed the way the whole Country was thinking.
