The reason a `plane flies is that it goes along the ground at speed and the air rushing past over the wings create a up ward pressure of air. It is called "lift"
The air rushing over the top of the wings causeing this lift eventualy is great enough to lift the `plane from the ground and keep it there by the reward thrust of the motors keeping air flowing over the top of the wings maintaining lift.
