I have hurt my back gardening. Any quick cures?

I think I have pulled a muscle in my back whilst pulling up weeds.  The pain on standing up or sitting down is breathtaking but I can walk ok.  Any advice?

Stop gardening and get your husband to do it.

Vinny: Hire someone else's husband, why wear out yours?? You may need him for something important someday, like his retirement money.

That's what the produce department in your grocery store is there for. Thank a Mexican, the next time you see one.

    get a massage

Hot bath, or ice massage (freeze water in a Styrofoam cup, peel it down and have someone use it to massage the sore muscles), some pain meds. and if possible anti-inflammatory meds.  Lay low, do not garden for a few days, but do not lay in bed all day, it is better and do what you can, your recovery will take a couple of days.  If you stretch before you garden it helps to prevent strains...

I am just recovering from the same injury.Hot packs & nice warm baths helped me.Take some paracetamol for the pain & try to avoid any activity that causes the pain.(That's the hard part). And if you do anything strenuous make sure you warm up first.I found that the specialised meds that you buy over the counter virtually useless.Take it easy for a couple of weeks.
