You will need to take it in and have it look at. They might find a problem or two also a major tune up is what I think might be required. They are not cheap but they give you a peace of mind that almost all maintenance things have been taken care of.

Only three reasons that come immediately to mind.

The battery is flat or you have a loose cable to the battery starter motor or earth.

The third thing is the bendix gear in the starter motor is jambed in the fly wheel ring gear.

Check the cables and ensure they are clean and making good contact at both ends.

Turn on the headlights and try to start, if the lights dim or go out the battery is in need of charging or is cactus.

If this is all OK if you have a manual gear box put the car into top gear and with the hand brake off ( have someone in the car to stop runaway) rock the car backwards and forwards.

If the bendix gear is jambed hopefully this will disengage it from the ring gear.

If this doesnt work try a box of matches and a generous serving of petrol.
